Hiking the Porkies with John Bates and Mary Burns

Due to permitting issues, we have had to change the location of this hike with John and Mary.  We will now be hiking the Escarpment Trail in the Porcupine Mountains!

Meeting Place and Time: We will meet at 8 a.m, at the Discovery Center, and then drive via the NLDC van and one car to the Government Peak Trail trailhead along M-107, the endpoint of our hike. We will leave the car there, and take the van to the starting point at Lake of the Clouds.

Trail Length: We will hike the Escarpment Trail, which runs about 4.3 miles up and down to the juncture with Government Peak Trail. While this may not sound like too much, the terrain is rocky and rugged, and the hike will feel much longer! The trail is gorgeous, however, so your work will be amply rewarded.

Bring a lunch, water, and hiking gear.  Pre-register by 9/24.  $60 ($50 members).
