Canceled: Spring Phenology Hike with John Bates

MEMBERS ONLY PROGRAM - Come hike the Pipke Park Wilderness Trail in Presque Isle, a relatively new trail that offers several loops for up to a 2.8-mile roundtrip hike. The trail bridges several wetlands, along with providing soils that support a somewhat different flora than we’re used to in our poorer sandy soils. Late May is prime time for all our birds to have returned, and we may still catch some of the late-blooming spring wildflowers. We’ll also talk spring phenology - the timing of seasonal events. So, the morning should be rich in flora and fauna! All participants will receive a signed copy of John’s book “Graced by the Seasons-Spring/Summer!” Meet at the Discovery Center. Registration is required by May 28. Saturday, 9 - 11:30 AM. $30 current members of the NLDC.
